Parents in Swindon and Wiltshire are being targeted by a scam claiming to give away free nappies, Wiltshire Trading Standards has warned. 

The scam is being carried out through a Facebook post that states there will be a free giveaway in the local area which people can be a part of if they click on a link and provide personal information. 

The organisation has shared a screenshot of the post along with a warning to let people know that they should not engage with it and has asked others to keep an eye out for vulnerable people who might be fooled by it. 

The free nappy giveaway scam post It said: "We have recently seen the return of a post which was shared a lot on Facebook earlier this year. The post states there will be a free giveaway of baby products in your local area.

"Should you click on the link you will be asked to provide personal information. Any information you provide will be directly in the hands of scammers who may use this to steal your identity or financial details.

"If something seems too good to be true, it probably is! Please don't share scam Facebook posts. If you see friends sharing them, let them know it's a scam and direct them to our page."
